21st November saw the Religious Roadshow at Birmingham Cathedral. The day was open to those seeking God’s will for them as well as Religious from near and far. After a welcome cuppa we joined together to celebrate Morning Prayer. After this we were introduced to an interesting ice-breaker which involved sharing our answers to a variety of questions with those either side of us. The questions ranged from the easy to ones requiring a little more thought.
The highlight of the morning was the talk by Fr. Eamon Mulcahy, a Spiritan priest based in Manchester. His talk on where he sees religious life today was interesting, thought-provoking and, at times, amusing. Lunch was spent catching up with each other as well as spending time looking around the various stalls set up by each Congregation.
In the afternoon there was the opportunity to go to various workshops which included one on discernment, another on prayer and one on the Dominican way of life.
The afternoon culminated in a celebration of Mass in the cathedral itself with Archbishop Bernard Longley as main celebrant with Fr. Eamon delivering the homily. All in all it was a wonderful day so many thanks to Sr. Anna and the team who organised the day.
