In the 90's two Sisters, Sr. Agnes and Sr. Cyril, who had retired from their teaching career decided to go and work voluntarily in Romania. Initally they began work in a hospital in Bucharest, caring for babies who had been infected with HIV and AIDS. They also became involved in a Summer School in Campulung which taught English to Romanian students. While doing this work they were invited by the Bishop to become involved in providing preschool education and working in the parish.
In May 1994 the first candidates from Romania joined the Congregation and the Novitiate was established in Campulung. In 1997 these young women made their First Profession as Sisters of St. Paul the Apostle and in 2003 they were finally professed as Sisters of St Paul and so our story began in Romania.

Learning to become self sufficient is very important for the local people. They are learning through developing various projects, how to grow their own fruit and vegetables, and on their small farm making their own cheese and butter. The people are very proud of their successes.
