St. Paul’s Nursing Home The Infirmary Selly Park

We are very fortunate to have a residential Nursing Home, to provide the medical and pastoral care for our sisters.

Since the time of Mother Genevieve Dupuis, Foundress of the Congregation, the sick and elderly Sisters have come home to Selly Park for nursing care.

In St. Paul’s Nursing Home its purpose is to enable the Sisters to live a structured Religious Life within the limits of their strength and inclination, in a place of peace, care and familiar surroundings.

Particular attention is taken to provide the appropriate health care for each Sister, to ensure that every patient is treated with respect, and that her dignity as a Child of God, and a Sister of St. Paul the Apostle is affirmed and reverenced.

Family, relatives and friends are encouraged to visit. Hospitality and accommodation are provided when required.

St. John’s Community

In St. John’s Community we share our lives through prayer, celebration and mutual support. We endeavour to do all we can to help our elderly and frail sisters.

We are delighted to welcome their families and friends and try to make their visits as enjoyable as possible. We are there to offer support in times of bereavement.

Celebration is very important to us and we do it as often as we can. We try to provide a bright and inviting environment to enhance the lives of all.

Ministry Statement from Mrs Rajinder Atkar, Manager of St.Paul’s Care Home

Sisters who are resident in St. Paul’s Care Home are cared for to a high standard and their wellbeing and religious needs are cared for Care Manager and Staffand met.

As manager it is my responsibility to ensure that the Nursing Home runs smoothly and consistently, and that all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times.

In my absence, my deputy will take on these responsibilities.

We also work closely with the Leadership Team and the Nursing Home Superior and the Sisters relatives, who also take an active interest in the wellbeing of the Sisters.

The Nursing Home has twenty-four hour nursing care cover and has a good skill mix of staff which is laid down by the Care Quality Commission and is maintained at all times.

Every Sister in the Nursing Home must feel that this is their home and they must have the freedom to relate to the person of their choice, for example the Superior General or a member of the Leadership Team.

The presence of the Chaplain is also of utmost importance should a Sister wish to meet with him at any time. We ensure that every Sister is treated with dignity and the respect and dignity they deserve as a Sister of St. Paul.

The Mother House of Selly Park holds together the different ministries of the Congregation.

It has always been a place of hospitality, opening its doors to welcome those who seek a haven of peace, reflection and prayer.
