Obedience
Obedience
Christian obedience draws its whole meaning from our relationship with God and from the perception of God's will which grows from and is nurtured by prayer and lived out in an attitude of respectful discernment. That is why prayer, obedience and discernment are inextricably interwoven.
As prayer intensified and deepened for Jesus it was closely interwoven with what God wanted of him and led him gradually to surrender to God's will despite the cost.
Without prayer we will make decisions, and good decisions at that, but we will not discern.
Discernment is a way of life, it is not something we undertake at those times when we want to make decisions. It is an attitude we grow into, that opens us up to 'risk' - the risk of the 'more'
'We must pray much, pray without ceasing.'
Genevieve Dupuis
